A Field Trip!

Our students were given an educational tour of the museum.

During the month of December, our students paid a visit several of Antequera´s historical monuments. The students visited Antequera´s very own castle, a historical museum and the Church of Santa Maria. The students were given a guided tour of the museum. They were able to see ancient tools from the Stone, Iron and Bronze age. At the Church of Santa Maria, the students saw a brief biographical documentary on the church´s architect. At the castle, the students were given a tour by museum docents and learned about its history.

Durante el mes de diciembre, los alumnos visitaron varios monumentos emblemáticos de Antequera: el museo de Antequera, el castillo y la iglesia de Santa Maria. Recibieron un tour educativo del museo donde aprendieron de la historia y prehistoria de Antequera. Vieron varios herramientas de las épocas pasadas. En la iglesia de Santa Maria, miraron un documental biográfico del arquitecto de dicha iglesia. Y en el castillo, también disfrutaron de un tour guiado donde aprendieron de la historia del castillo y su muralla.

A Bilingual Science Lesson

For our students at CEIP San Juan, Science is a bilingual subject. Our students study a wide variety of topics in English, including: plants, animal characteristics, the parts of the body, and social science. During the month of December, our second graders studied the Respiratory, Circulatory and Digestive Systems. Not only did they learn basic vocabulary relating to the systems, they also learned the organs of each system and their functions. Below, the students are engaging in group work. Each group was responsible for labeling, in English, the organs in the body system they were assigned.

Bilinguismo en Ciencia

En CEIP San Juan, ensenamos a ciencia como una asignatura bilingue. Nuestros estudiantes (desde primero a sexto) estudian una variedad de temas científicas en ingles como: las plantas, características de los animales, los partes de cuerpo, y la ciencia social. Durante el mes de diciembre, nuestros alumnos de segundo ano estudiaron los sistemas circulatorio, respiratorio y digestivo. No solo aprendieron el vocabulario relacionado con estés sistemas, también aprendieron los nombres de los órganos de cada sistema y su función. Las fotos muestran a los ninos participando en trabajo de grupo. Cada grupo era responsable para etiquetar, en ingles, los órganos del sistema que eran asignado.

Race to Save the Children - Carera de Save the Children

This week at CEIP San Juan Bilingual Elementary school, our students and teachers participated in a race to promote awareness for the plight of children in Africa. This year, Save the Children and CEIP San Juan Elementary school´s focus was Mali. At the end of the race, all students were given certificates of recognition.

Esta semana, como todos los años y para celebrar el Día Internacional del Niño; en el colegio CEIP San Juan, los alumnos y los profesores participaron en una carera solidaria por la situación difícil de los niños de algunos países de África. Este año, el fondo de Save the Children se destinará a los niños de Mali. Al terminar la carera, todos los alumnos recibieron certificados de participación.
