Nuestro Zoo Imaginario

En conocimiento, nuestros alumnos de 2º han estado aprendiendo de los 6 grupos de los animales: mamíferos, aves, insectos, peces, anfibios, y reptiles. Con este fin, los niños hicieron un proyecto bilingüe para elaborar este tema. Primero, tenían que aprender de las características primarias de cada grupo: como se desplazan, si tiene escamas, pelo o piel húmeda, si son carnívoros, herbívoros o omnívoros, si son vertebrados u invertebrados, y dónde suelen vivir, etc. El proyecto era hacer un zoo ficticio dónde los animales están agrupados según que tipo de animal son.  Como conocimiento es una asignatura dado en ingles, los alumnos tuvieron que hacer las descripciones en ingles.  Luego presentaron lo que aprendieron, en inglés, a los alumnos de 3º.

Our Imaginary  

In science, our 1st grade students have been learning about the 6 animal kingdoms: mammals, birds, insects, fish, amphibians and reptiles.  With this in mind, the students participated in a bilingual project to put in practice what they learned.  First, the students had to learn the primary characterisitics of each group: how they move, if they have hair, scales or wet skin, if they are carnivores, herbivores or omnivores, if the animals are vertebrates or invertebrates, where they usually live, etc.  The project was to create a ficticious zoo where the animals were grouped according to what animal kingdom they belong to.  Given that Science is considered a bilingual subject, the students wrote the descriptions for the animals in English.  Later they presented what they learned, in English, to our 3rd graders.

Excursión a la Exposición de Instrumentos Musicales del Mundo

(Parte 2)

Después de la visita a la biblioteca, los alumnos tuvieron la oportunidad de visitar el colegio La Vera Cruz en Antequera y ver una exposición de instrumentos musicales del mundo en el centro de profesores.  Un profesor les mostraron instrumentos de varias regiones de España como Galicia y de una variedad de países cómo Vietnam, India, Marruecos y Perú.  Además, de mostrarles los instrumentos, el profesor los tocaron varios para los niños y dejó que los alumnos experimentaran tocando los instrumentos.

Field Trip to see an Exposition of Musical Instruments from all over the World

(Part 2)

After our visit to the public library, the students had the opportunity to visit La Vera Cruz school in Antequera and see an exposition of musical instruments from all over the world. A teacher showed the students instruments from various regions of Spain as well as from a variety of countries like Vietnam, India, Morrocco and Peru.  In addition to showing the students these instruments, the professor played several of them and allowed the students to participate as well.

Excursión a la Biblioteca (Parte 1)

Durante el mes de marzo, los niños de 1º y 2º hicieron una excursión a la biblioteca pública de Antequera.  Una bibliotecaria les mostraron el cuarto con libros, audiobooks y videos para niños.  Los niños aprendieron como sacar una tarjeta bibliotecaria y cómo buscar libros en su nivel de lectura.  Además, aprendieron la importancia de cuidar de libros particularmente los libros prestados, qué hacer cuando terminan de leerlos y qué habrán que hacer si pierdan un libro.  Después los niños tuvieron la oportunidad de buscar libros, leerlos y colorear.

Field Trip to the Library (Part 1)

During the month of March, our 1st and 2nd grade students went on a field trip to Antequera´s very own public library.  A librarian showed the students the room with books, audiobooks and videos for children.  The children learned how to take out a library card and how to look for books on their reading level.  The students also learned the importance of taking good care of books especially those loaned by the library, what to do when they have finished reading them, and what to do should they loose a book.  Afterward the children had the opportunity to look on their own for books, read and colour.
